1981 Ford Fairmont 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic unkown miles

My car starts but won't run. As soon as I release the key after starting it, the car quits.

check to see if you are getting power to the coil with the key on. If not you may have a bad connection at the bulkhead connector or ignition switch maybe bad.
