I have a 2001 Ford F350 4x4 with the 7.3L diesel engine. The truck has approx. 106,000 miles. The problem I am experiencing is when I am backing a boat trailer up a driveway, with a very slight incline, into a garage, the truck begins to dump transmission fluid onto the driveway until the truck is shut down. This only happens when I am backing up under a load. The amount of fluid that comes out is approximately 1/2 of a quart in about 1 min. The dealer has checked the truck and said that there is no problem code showing for this and they are unable to dupicate this in the shop. The only thing they were able to find was that the truck was a bit low on trans. fluid. Any suggestions or ideas (with the exception of a drip pan on the ground:-) would be apprecieated. Thank you.

I was thinking about a seal on the transmission. Have you got any idea where on the transmission the fluid is escaping from?

I will have to hook up to a trailer and make the truck do it again and try to determine where exactly it is coming from once I get the truck back from the dealer. It sure seems like some sort of a seal, although I know very little about transmissions. Funny the dealer didn't even suggest such a thing. I would have definitely said "go for it, and fix it". Anyway, thank you for the help.
