Get a scan done to retrieve the trouble code and let me know the exact trouble code so I can get the necessary information.
I would like to have the VIN to confirm the engine and transmission type.

do you think it could be a connection..the transmission is n ot ruuning hot and is shifting normal just the gauge shows hot

They should be related. If the PCM/TCM thinks that something is wrong, it would indicate by the OD light blinking. As the fluid temp is indicated as high, the computer would receive the signal, correct or otherwise and act accordingly.
