chirping noise

I have a 2002 ford with 50,350 miles on it. I just replaced the serpentine belt, fuel filter, air filter, oil, oil filter, pcv valve, and plugs. I am getting a very loud chirping noise from the top of the engine when at cold idle, it increases with rpm's and is much quieter when at warm idle, any ideas?

I have an 01 and I know my alternator is squeaking. We took it in about a year ago and we were told that the bearings inside are causing the squeaking and our warranty doesn't cover the alternator until it actually breaks, lol. They greased it really good which made it squeak even more. Every once in a while it'll stop but as soon as I wash the car or it rains it comes right back. It worse at idle and is less noticeable when the rpms are higher. HTH

Mine did that the second I drove it off the lot, my steering belt I think thats what it is called was the wrong size, the box said it was the one for my car but it wasn't, the belt was also rubbing up on the thing that makes it spin so they ground it down a little and it works much better now, it only chirps once in a great while when it rains, but boy was that annoying!!!!

It could be the alternator bearings but it's a good idea to troulbeshoot starting w/the cheapest thing first. Try spraying WD-40 on your idler pulley. If that doesn't work, you may have gotten a cheap belt and that is your problem. If it's not the belt, i'd look into replacing the alternator.
