I have a 1999 ford f-250 superduty fourwheel drive pickup with a 7.3 litre powerstroke diesel engine. I have 199,990 miles on the engine. About two months ago my engine went dead and found my cam shaft position sensor had gone bad. I had not had any problems up to that point but talking to a couple of people with powerstrokes found it can be a common problem. I purchased a new one from local auto parts store, replaced and it worked fine for about a month and started stalling again, tach started jumping, and check engine light came on just as before. I took the sensor off and back to auto store. Got another one (has lifetime guarantee) and all was working well again. Now here about a month later again I am starting to get stuttering like it is going out again. Is this a common problem? Is there another solution? Or should I expect to have to replace often?
