door ajar

one of the door ajar switches in the door latches have failed or is stuck. there is one in each door jamb latch . try lubricating each latch with wd40 and work it in good.

Crew Cab Lariat V10 Super Duty. The door ajar light and dome lights stay on all the time. A dealer had a computer hooked up to it and the computer says all 4 doors are shut while the door ajar light stays on. I have had the instrument panel, GEM, junction box and the driver door switch replaced with no result. Can you suggest where to look for the cause.

i usually find the problem to be the door ajar switch in the latch of the door that is least used. to repair it all i do is spray brake cleaner inside the latches to remove the dirt and oil then i spray the hell out of it with wd40 then open and close the door a million times. its either that or a wire rubbed through somewhere.

Spray the latches with a light lubricant such as wd-40. That usually takes care of the dome light issue.

I have a 2002 ford F 250 the door ajar light stays on, the raidio stays on when the truck is off and the key is out, the lights come on automaticly when it gets dark, im thinking the key switch is bad, thats not a fun job, any thoughts?

Lubricate the driver and passenger door latchs, then open/close the doors 20-30 times attempting to free-up the door ajar switch, which is part of the door latch.

i did many times to all the doors and still nothing,i recently replaced the door lock on the passenger rear door but this was acting up before and after, is this a closed or open circuit, and dose this have anything to do with the key switch?

I know you probaly dont want to hear this but for further diagnosis your gonna have to get the VSM(vehicle security module) scanned with a scan tool capable of reading body, security codes, and start diagnoses there with the codes that are retrieved.

where do you get one and what exactly am i getting, i have a devices that reads codes that you plug into the ecm plug, it can tell when the idiot light comes on and what it means

This is a scanner that shops/dealers use such as a snap on scanner or factory scan tool that have the ability and software needed to scan body, chassis, security, etc. codes.

This happened to my (super crew cab) truck. I bought it used from a dodge dealer, and they couldnt fix it, so they sent it to a ford dealer for repair, that the dodge dealer paid for. The repair worked for about a week, and the problem happened again. I looked online and found all i needed to do was spray the white plastic latches located on the rear doors (near the inner door handle) with wd40 and the problem was solved.

i have a 2002 f 250 , door ajar switch stays on ..replaced door switches , and unreplaced them as they were fine..Prior to this ,the battery died ..The cluster went crazy then died ...Cluster rebuilt professionally, solved issue but door ajar ,dome and chime with key in ..Any ideas??

I would check the Left front wiring to the door ajar switch. The way this circuit works it grounding the yellow/black wire to ground. So test for resistance on the yellow wire to ground with a multimeter to see if you have a short to ground.
Does the remote or key fob lock and unlock the vehicle? Let me know if you have any questions.

when doors are closed ajar light is on open both front doors light goes out. dome light is same as ajar light,dome light stays on 1/2 hour doors closed less than a minant open , doors closed dome light will not shut off when key turned on

This is because you have a door ajar switch that has failed. We need to replace the switch that has failed however, if it is both front doors then you have two failed switches. It is unlikely that the VSM (security module) has failed as you would most likely have other issues then just the ajar light and dome lights.

However, the dome light is staying on because the module thinks the door is still open so that causes the light to stay on.
