1996 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual 200k miles

My boyfriend just bought a 96' F250 with 200,000 miles on it. Its a manual truck and is having some problems with the clutch and shifting. In order to start the truck he has to turn the key to the half way point and literally with full force stomp on the clutch ( as if jump starting a bike or moped) while turning the key in order for the truck to start. He has replaced the clutch slave cylinder and neutral position switch thinking that might have something to do with starting of the truck but it made no difference. As far as shifting, it takes at least five minutes to put the truck in reverse because you have to start in 2nd and jerk it down to reverse and hope it works. Also almost every time he shifts it grinds. So here's the question? What is your thoughts on why the truck takes so much to get it started, and how does he fix the grinding?

Disconnect the clutch pedal position switch and jumper it and see if it will crank up w/o all the force to it see below diagram for location if the CPPS is okay-could be coming from the ignition switch itself

For the grinding of gears you need a new clutch assembly if you adjust for free play and it continues

Thank You for answering, but you directed me to a diagram that was not visible for me. I'm not sure if it didn't work or what but if you could try again? Also this last sentence is confusing to me, sounds like it was cut short of what you were going to say
"you need a new clutch assembly if you adjust for free play and it continues"
