Engine Performance problem
1994 Ford F250 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 160K miles

Hi, I'm thinking to overhaul my old '94 F-250, bumper to bumper.

My intention is to replace the engine for a 302 and an automatic transmission, but I don't know what model is the right one for this truck with this engine.

Also, will I need to replace the drivetrain axle?

Finally... what would be an estimate on cost? assuming all new parts. (I know it's going to be expensive, but my guess is that this model will be a classic in a few years).

7-8 grand for parts at the least. since your going to put in a 302 you will have to put in a transmission that will go with a 302, id go with a AOD tranny and a 302. 4 speed with overdrive.

expensive for new, why you want a 302 instead of a 351?

I just love how that engine runs... besides, I'm not thinking to use this pick-up for cargo purposes.

fair enough, should drop right in if its of the same year, if its the newer one you can eliminate some sensors.

yes the 302 is one of my favorite engines. you can keep the trans the same.
