1991 Ford F250 shifting

My pickup does not want to shift from first gear to second on its own.I have to get my rpm up to desired range and then let off the throttle some in order for it to shift to second.From second gear on it shifts fine.

I am trying to do some research on the problem and would need some additional information and hope you are able to provide them.

1. Tranmission code. 3 different models of transmission are installed and I need to know which one.
2. Engine capacity. This might help determine the transmission type.

All I got is my trans is a type E and my engine is a 460.I hope that helps,

Hi Brandon, Yes, the info is sufficient. Possible causes for the symptoms described are : Sticky or dirty valve body. Improperly adjusted manual linkage. Damaged 1-2 shift valve. Sticky D2 valve. Improper fluid level. Sticky intermediate clutch accumulator regulator valve. Sticky 1-2 manual transition. If the manual linkages are correct, you would need to service/replace the valve body and check the intermediate clutch accumulator regulator valve.
