need help with a 1969 ford ranger. just got it runnin for first time in 8 years and the clutch wont go into gear. the truck runs fine but when trying to put it in gear (its a stick btw) it grinds. when its off and i try to put it in gear it works fine but when i turn it on ittl start in that gear but it will lock itself. the only way to put it back is by towing or pushing it with another vehicle.

Hi there,

Just re bleed the hydraulics first, and if that still is no goo, push the clutch down and have some one check that the clutch fork is moving, if it is you may have the clutch plate frozen to the fly wheel, if this is the case, you may be able to free it up by driving a short while in RD nut get the engine warm first as you want heat to soak into the flywheel first, try this.

you will want the engine up to normal temp on the gauge, and then may be run it a bit longer as the flywheel is heavy and it will take a bit of time to heat up.
