How do you change out the actuators for the 4 wheel drive. I took it to the mechanic and he said they where all bad because water got in the transfer case. He drained the water and got them to stay in 2 wheel drive.(But he cannot guarantee they will stay) I would like to change them out myself because I cannot afford the given price.

Thank You =]

Courtesy of FORD MOTOR CO. 1. With the ignition in the ON position, switch the mode select switch (MSS) to 4H. 2. Turn the ignition to the OFF position. 3. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING . 4. Disconnect the harness connector. 5. Remove the bracket bolt and the 3 mounting bolts, then remove the transfer case shift motor.  Remove the shifter shaft seal. 6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.  Apply a coat of multi-purpose grease to the transfer case shift motor.
