I need to add freon to the air conditioner system. The amient temperature outside is approx. 95 degrees. What should the low side pressure be? I have found several charts online, but I am not sure if they are specific to my truck and I do not want to over fill the system. Thank You

There should be a label under the hood to let you know what capacity should be if you have only a front air conditioner or front and rear air conditioner, but usually the pressure should be between 30-40 psi.

Can you send me a picture of the air conditioning system that would show me where the low pressure port is located so I can hook up a recharge kit.

Okay, so I replaced my whole AC system last summer because the old compressor locked up and it was hot as Satan. Vacuumed the system and charged it the correct way. This year the system was working fine for about a week. Now when I start the truck the compressor will kick on for about thirty seconds and then shut off. I have a gauge on the low pressure side and when the compressor clutch is engaged the gauge is in the green like everything is okay. Then the compressor shuts off and the gauge goes to red. This happens every time I start my truck. What is causing my compressor to kick back off?

What exactly did you replace when you did the work?
Your description sounds like you have a blockage in the system and it is stopping the system from working. Normally as a minimum you would flush each line on its own, flush the evaporator, replace the condenser, compressor, receiver/drier and install an inline filter to catch anything you missed. Better is to replace everything, except any open lines that you can flush and still install a filter because the compressor chewed itself up and dumped metal into the system.

Do you have an AC gauge set? That is the bare minimum that you need to even start testing. You need to see what the low and high side pressures are doing as the compressor cycles. I think you will see that the low side starts to pull a vacuum and the high side spikes and the pressure switch shuts it off.

I just jumped the AC clutch relay in the outside fuse box and it works. What would cause that relay to trip?

The pressure switches will cause it to shut down for high or low pressure. Jumping the clutch relay bypasses all the safety switches.

I purchased an AC recharge kit but cannot find the port to add the refrigerant to. Can you help me locate the port?
