Auto hubs will not lock up.I here grinding on the driveside hub.Is this a vacuum problem or could the splines be rounded?The truck is not abused.Only time its seen 4 wheel was in the snow on paved roads

take off the hubs and see what it looks like. chances are they are not engaging. try backing up and going forward to see if they are popping on.
