the little plastic part from inside of the pan gets thrown away. Ford puts them an most of their vehicle's tranmission pans, when tranny is serviced for first time it should be removed.

I just did a transmission filter change and there was a little plastic piece laying inside the pan when I to it off. I has a bulbed end with a rubber o ring around it and inch and a half long shaft part to it. I didnot see anywhere it was supposed to go so I did not put it in there again. But now with the new filter in and it refilled my trans mission does not work so my assumption is that piece must go to something or my transmission would work. So my question is where does it go

Great picture, nice question. I asked the same thing the first time I saw one of them. It is a plug that they install from the transmission manufacturing plant to seal the trans. It goes where the dipstick tube seats in. They install the plug and when it rolls down the assembly line, whoever puts in the dipstick tube just pushes it in, sending the plug into the trans pan. It will never hurt anything, but it makes you waist a lot of time looking for someplace to put it. We use to call 'em butt plugs, cause that's all they were good for when ya found em. Hehehe!!
As for your trans not working it has nothing to do with the plug. You may want to inspect the filter and make sure it is seated correctly and the fluid level topped off. If you have any other questions feel free to give a shout anytime.

I am replacing my trans filter and fluid. A small yellow plug with an O ring fell into the pan , where does it go?

That plugs the dipstick tube during assembly when they stick the dipstick in it falls in the bottom of the pan and when you change the fluid it comes out and you can throw it away or keep as a souviner

Hi ! i need your help.i change my new transmission oil.after take off the pans down i suddenly see the yellow piece inside the pans.i tried to figure out where it connect to. for a while but i cannot see any where to put them back. so, did you know where . thanks for your help please send the picture as you can so, i know where it is?

Is this a C4 tranny? I forgot the name for that part That one goes to the rounded corner of the tranny housing the round part when install will be facing downwards to oil pan.

I found this in the transmission pan when I dropped it to change the filter. Any idea?

That is nothing to worry about. When the transmission was built, that was placed where the dipstick tube presently is. It was there to keep dirt out during production and when the tube is installed, it is pushed into the pan.

Yeah, that is what I hear. Was hoping I did not have to replace the transmission. Just a dream I guess.
