I get a squeeking noise from my fan belt and ask the mechanic about it and he said " that is charactoristic for that year to make a noise like that. You can change the belt and it may or may not fix the problem because it has an automatic belt adjuster on that year and is nortorious about doing that." Is this true and is there an easy fix?

No, this isn't a common problem. Try a little test for me. With the engine running, open the hood and pour a little water on the serp belt while it's spinning. Does the sound go away or get worse?

Let me know.

Joe
PS: NOTE: wear old clothes and protect your eyes when doing this. The water will most likely fling all over the place and can get on you.
