when i release the clutch from a dead stop in 1st or reverse it jumps/shudders hard. when I give more gas at higher rpms its smoother. I had my clutch and slave cylinder replaced not to long ago.

What you are describing is chattering. It can be caused by a worn clutch plate, weak pressure plate, or the clutch disc is contaminated by oil, coolant...

Did the problem just start since the slave was replaced?

thanks for the quick response. the answer to your question is yes. Just shortly after the clutch/slave was replaced it began. Once the truck is moving all other gears 2-5 work fine. this problem has been going on a while, ive just learned to deal w/it. my old mechanic who replaced my clutch/slave said it was a sensor/intake problem and could run 250-650 to fix. not sure what to believe.

There is nothing on the intake or a sensor for the clutch. Honestly, either the slave needs rebled or the pressure plate is getting weak.
