2001 Ford F150 engine knock at idle

I started using mobile 1 5w30 full syn oil and now I am getting a knock at idle. Is this oil to thin ? It never did this until I started using this oil. It sounds like a low end knock. when I drive it just as quite as it can be, it only happens at a idle in park.

Actually, I feel your choice in oil is one of the best. However, the knock isn't good. I need you to check something. You will need to rent an oil pressure gauge from a parts store. All you need to do is remove your oil sending unit and install the mechanical gauge. Start the truck and allow it to idle. Let me know what type of pressure you have.

As far as the 5W30, check your owner's manual. Also, chances are there is a sticker under the hood with the weight recommendation. What you are using should be fine unless you live where it is really hot.

My oil pressure gauge stays at a high level and really never moves after starting.

I would still feel safer using a mechanical gauge. Sending units can go bad.

Where and how do I replace the sending unit, how much are they ?

I'm not sure the unit is bad. That is why I wanted you to test it. As far as the sending unit, it unbolts from the engine block. It should be near the oil filter assembly.
