I own a 2000 Ford F350 Super Duty pickup
7.3L diesel w/ 150,000 miles on it.

The other day with no warning it would crank but not start.
Parts man at Ford said another guy came in w/ the same problem advised me to replace the Fuel Pressure regulator.
Put it on cranked right up. Got down the road about a mile and it shut off.

After about an hour it cranked and continued to run about 5 minutes. After it sets awhile it starts and runs 5 minutes and quits.

Is it possible that I just had the worst luck and got a bad part???

UPDATE: It wasn't a bad part. It was the CPS ...
cam position sensor. I put it on it started up and runs perfectly. This was suggested on another forum. I went to carquest and Advanced Auto they wanted $160-$180 for it. I went to my local Ford dealership and got a Ford Genuine part for $30!!!!!.

Hope this helps somebody else cause trying to figure this one out drove me crazy.
