I hooked a different battery up to my truck to start it while the origanal was charging and I didn't relize that thhe battery I grabbed was backwards. I accidently hooked the negative to the positive and the positive to the negative. Now the batteries won't hold a charge and we tested the altenator and it's good what could be wrong? thanks!

Welcome to 2carpros

You short circuited the battey-might also want to have the alternator load tested to make sure its putting out and inspect the fusible links.

When you connect the batteries backward it can short the battery out internally and it will need to be replaced. Here is a guide to help you fix anything else that might be wrong.
