I am trying to find the location of the vehicle speed sensor on my Ford F-150 4X4 4.2V6 with manual transmission. When I a bought the part, I was given a picture (same in the Haynes Manual) of the VSS on the side of the transmission. This is not the case. I was then told to change the sensor on top of the rear differential. Still no help. I was then told the only other place it could be was on one of the front wheels. No uch sensors exist. The only other sensor i can find is on top of the Transfer case just above where the rear driveline inserts into the transfer case? IS this the right one? where is it?
Also, the longer it goes unfixed, the more i have problems with a "miss" or jumping and low or high idling. Could the VSS cause this too?
