i have been looking at a 99 f150 4 wheel drive that i want to buy it has 180000 the only thing is that the guy said it had lost oil pressure and that something was stopped up so he sprayed it out with an air hose and now it is holding good oil pressure now will it happen again or what was it that caused it to not have pressure and if i could get this truck for a 1000 dollars would it be worth it

I have no idea what he would have blown out with air pressure that helped him get pressure back. THe only thing I can think of is he removed the oil filter and blew air through where it connects which may have blown sludge from the pick-up screen. Ask if that is what he did.

Just so you know, if that is what he did, it may happen again. THe best thing to do would be remove the oil pan, clean it out, properly clean the pick-up screne and check the oil pump while you were there. Also, is there any knocking ot ticking in the engine when you run it now?

As far as I'm concerned, if the body and interior is in good shape, the price sounds right, but I would hate to see you get stuck putting an engine in it.

Let me know.

For the price you're getting it for, if the body and interior is good, I would say go for it. But please remember, I have no history on the vehicle and don't know exactly what he did.

I'll put it this way. If I needed a new truck, this came up and the man was honest enough to tell me what happened, but he fixed it and it's running smooth now, I would jump on it if the body is good. But, my old Dakota only has 217K on it so I got at least another 80K left on it. Do me one favor. Check the bed mounts. They rusted in many cases. Especially check near the cab.

Let me know if you have other questions.
