Bought new tires and also asked for alignment. Was told alignment was not viable due to worn out ball joints and was told I had to replace the entire control arms and assemblys as no ball joint replacement was available separately for this truck. Estimated cost given by the tire dealer in Central NC is $850.

This work was already performed at 92k when my Dad owned the truck. It now has 145k. My Dad was good to the truck and I am as well. I always ease all of my vehicles over speed bumps, RR Crossings etc. The only hard driving I ever do is with an old clunker 4x4 and a nice corvette. This truck is my leisure couch on wheels. Should this be necessary this often, is this a reasonable cost, etc.

Thank you

it is true you have to replace the control arm assembly .. to R + R both sides book time is 3 hours .. so you have 3 hours labor @ shop hourly rate plus I have a dealer OEM price of $140 per side ..for the control arm .. you could probabaly get these cheaper from an autoparts store ..it all depends on the parts used in the last repair as to how long they will last !! hope this helps
