1997 Ford F150 Donation? How much is fair? How much is adeq

1997 Ford F150 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 275K miles

I hate that nobody gives a suggestion as to the amount that would be considered fair to donate so that I could get my question answered here. Are we talking 5 bucks, 10 bucks or 50 bucks? I want to be fair and I do value a skilled mechanic's ability to answer questions here.

Just have no clue as to what "they" expect.

A donation is just that..a donation. You give however much you feel is right. That is not anyone else's decision other than yours. If you feel that your question is a very difficult one then you may choose to give more than someone who thinks they have a relatively easy question. As moderators of the forum, we can not see the amount that was donate. Only the administrators of this website can see that. I don't know if donations are normally $1 , $5, $10 etc... I assume that they are all different and perhaps if there was an average and I am guessing it would be around the $5 range. Then again, the choice to donate and how much to give is completely up to you and what you should think about is how difficult your question would be to a technician. Hope this helps a little more...

So what do you need assistance with anyway?

A small amount will do from the heart considering the flat labor rates that ranges from $70.00-$130.00 for diagnostic purposes and other stuffs involved. Your donation helps keeps the site running. Once again any amount that's reasonable to you

Thanks. I just didn't want to do the "wrong" thing. I felt weird by asking,...perhaps cheap,...but then again,...like I said,...I also didn't want to donate 5 bucks when 50 was expected. Then I would REALLY come across as cheap. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

My question is with my 97 F150,..which has always been a love/hate relationship. For the last 2 years now,...it has a real rough shift from 1st to 2nd (after coming off a stop at a light or intersection). It just hangs there and revs for a second but finally jerks and kicks in once I pamper the gas pedal a bit. It shifts beautifully in every other gear and this behavior has not changed in the last 2 1/2 years.

It's an Automatic,...and it just hates it when I go from a stop to the next gear.

I can't complain too much as this truck has 258,000 miles on her. It's a 4.2 Liter V6.

I'm not a mechanic,....obviously,....but I have heard about something called an Accumulator Spring that goes bad once in awhile and could possibly be a cause.
With my luck though,...its probably the tranny ready to go....(but two years now?)
