1996 Ford F150 timming chain replacement

I changed my radiator,waterpump and thermostat ,a week later the timming cover gasket starts leaking.
I am thinking about doing it myself because a mechanic wants $1100.00 and the high price is because of the labor to remove radiator,fan. waterpump ect. I did all that myself and it is just hard to pay that kind of money when I can do it. Now how hard is it to change the timming chain and indoing this I will have to fix the leak as well? What do I do if the bolts break off? Ford does not sell water pump mounting bolts I found this out earlier!!TERRY in Louisville Ky

What size V8? 4.6 or 5.8? It's not a job for the tame of heart...

the engine size is a 5.8.

Since you already know how to remove the timming cover I won't go thru that, once thats off just align the marks, remove the old gears and chain as a set and install the new ones the same way...

I changed out the timing chain. Could putting a new timing chain on cause additional tension on the internal parts causing the engine to make a ticking sound?The engine now has a clicking noise . When I lined up the to marks on the sprockets , I was very care for not to turn the either one. I don't know if the engine was at TDC # 1 Cyl. I assummed it was when I lined up the markings on the sprocket.Can I adjust he timmming by adjusting the distributor whiich will lessen this noise? Thanks Terry
