I have a 1996 ford f-150 with a 4.9L (300) the cylinder head cracked last year I replaced the head. I have lost compession in two cylinders. The cylinder head was shaved .02 too much so I placed a shem in to make up the differance. I wasn't sure about the shem but did it anyway. I have a small leak of antifreeze on the front side of the engine should I disassemble the engine again and reset the head to bring back the compession? or should I replace the engine with a lower mileage 302. If I replace the engine with a 302 will I have to do anything to the tranny?

Lost compression or is it blown between 2, passing it back and forth? Im not sure if a 302 will bolt up to the trans, but the smog issues will be a nightmare.Might want to try to find a good used head and go that route.
