I recently had to replace my starter. I bought one from an auto salvage shop. The starter was originally for an '89 Ford E150. I installed and that went fine but the wiring is different on the new starter than the old one. the old one had an exposed solenoid where the wires were attached but the new one only has one screw post in the center and I assumed a covered solenoid under a metal shield how do I wire the new starter. Note when I attach the power to the starter and then to the battery the starer runs without the key in the ignition. thats is when I use either the power cable itself or the power cable with the smaller one that is present together
