1993 Ford F150 Low oil pressure

When I start the truck, the oil pressure does not come back to normal range. There is the proper amount of oil in the truck. I am thinking it could be a bad oil pump or possibly an oil sender switch. Would a dirty oil filter cause high or low oil pressure. I guess that would depend on where the pressure sensing switch comes of the oil line. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How low is the pressure? Have you ever heard any ticking or knocking from the engine? Also, if there is any concern of the oil filter, I would recommend changing the oil and filter. If you never hear any ticking or knocking, replace the oil sending unit. IF that doesn't take care of it, then I recommend (before removing the oil pan) renting a mechanical gauge to make sure there is a problem. All you do is remove the present oil sending unit and screw in the mechanical one. If you get to this point, let me know so I can help you through it.

The oil pressure is off scale low. I havent heard any ticking or knocking so I guess I will do an oil change/fliter replacement and replace the oil sending unit. If that doesnt work then I should check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. Thanks for your help. If I have any questions I will contact you.

If there isn't noise from the engine, chances are the sending unit is the problem. That is a good thing because the sending unit is cheap.
