Engine Mechanical problem
1992 Ford F150 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 260k miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
the check engine light comes on after about 10-15 minutes of run time then engine starts to sputter and dies. I bought a manuel to trouble shoot. I changed the fuel filter and checked for bad fuel lines. Truck has duel tanks. It sounded like the front tank pump was going bad, so i tried running solely on back tank. Did the same thing. I have not done a pressure or output test on the pumps as i don't have the tools for that. Would the fuel pressure regulator cause this kind of condition? And I believe there should be an inertia switch on the truck, but I can not find it where the book says. Would the truck run without the switch?

You need to figure out if it's fuel related, or ignition related(no spark).
Start with the basics, and work your way up, Last tune up was? Wires plugs ALL filters? If all that is ok, check for a stuck EGR, then test fuel pump pressure, If it won't restart, determine what's missing, the engine needs three things to run, Spark at all plugs, gas to all cylinders, and compression in all cylinders, tho an engine may run lacking one in one cylinder, it won't run very well!
