Alright Boss,

I answered you in "PM" for 3 reasons....

1) When I answer in "PM", it leaves your question WIDE OPEN, for an answer, from somebody that might really know your problem!.....a lot of times you get one answer only....Sometimes no answer at all!

2) I do not know much about your rig (and I told you that, up front).......I figger anything (somewhat logical) is better than nothing, when you are short on time, and in a bind!...Sorry I was no help thus far.

3) I have had similar experiences with other rigs, plain ole, simple Preventative maintenance , found in a repair manual, was the answer!....Older, carburetor REAL VEHICLES is what I know more about.

THE REASON I CAME BACK TO YOUR FORUM QUESTION IS:

Reasonable time has passed for a Better Answer than mine to come.....its also been so long since I wrote you, I had already deleted my response in PM...I can no longer refer to it to see what I specifically told you

So this is what I want you do do right now, in a nice numbered line-up list (Like I started off here) What you have found wrong, and what you have done thus far-----at the conclusion of each number, throw out several dashes and give results of the repair you have attempted

I am going to give you more to try now.

LETS SERIOUSLY LOOK HARD FOR A VACUUM LEAK...NOT ONLY THE LINES AND HOSES, BUT A COMPONENT THEY SERVICE MIGHT HAVE CRACKS OR BREAKS

Have your buddies try to, really look good, before you ask for this next step!!!

I have been shown a RADICAL way to search for one............It works well......It might cause a FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....Maybe Not (didn't with the feller in my case) However, I would strongly recommend an OLD BLANKET----AND A FIRE EXTINGUISHER BE ON HAND, if you do it!............Please repeat that part back to me, if you happen to ask for this info!!!!

Maybe your EGR is not seating down all the way, maybe its dirty, needs to be removed and clean all of the carbon off of it, and scrape all of the carbon out of its "Hole"

Does the CHECK ENGINE light come on at start up, verifying it does work?

Have you been to Autozone or Advance Auto for a FREE CODE SCAN.....maybe you have a stored code at minimum.

I will look into my Manuals (bought for wifes computer run rigs) for more possible help for you. Remember, Imma Jeep CJ kinda guy, I answer more comfortable with their questions!

Thanks for your input and sorry for the late response. i changed out spark plugs and wires, no more hesitation on acceleration. but im having a problem with a cold start, if the engines cold its hard to turn on. it idles high for a sec of two, then comes down and engine dies. happens once or twice til it stays on. and if ita cold outside like now, its just as hard to start and it dies shortly after unless i really give it some gas. once the engine warms up and has been driven a bit, all symptoms go away. and truck is easy to start. ive replaced, maf, iac, tps, and i dont know where else to look at. what are your thoughts?
