i've tested the electrical system and the battery reads 12.5- to 12.6 volts with the ignition off and 14.4 or more with the truck running, but the voltmeter on the dash stays pegged to the left with the engine running but the battery is not discharging. anyone have any suggestions or do i have to pull the instrument cluster to check the gauge itself,
thanks for any idfas. bill

From the checks, everything sounds like it is working correctly. Therefore, you either have a bad gauge itself or there is a broken or loose wires. Check under the dash and also, make sure the fuseable links from the alternator are in good condition. Check all of them for continunity.
