what type of transmission fluid goes in the manual 5 speed overdrive on my 1991 f150 xlt larriet. the owners manual if i read it right says Mercon automatic transmission fluid that dosent sound right to me.

for 4, 5 or a Ze transmission you shouild use a 80w extreme pressure oil. It is 80 w oild but made for high pressure. you can cross reference when you get the oil at a auto store. the fluid is Ford o.e. # D8DZ-19C547A or equivelent fluid.
