Hello,

This is likely a faulty fuel level sender.
The fuel sender consists of a variable resistor, controlled by the action of an attached float in the fuel tank. As the fuel level goes up or down the float moves and contacts different parts of the resistor. Which translates to the fuel gauge.
When the level sender goes bad it shows at the correct fuel level. It can show to be full when it is not or empty when full or any combination thereof.
To access this part, you will have to remove the fuel tank.

Another possibility is having a faulty fuel gauge. These gauges are part of the cluster and cannot be replaced individually.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
