Truck has 62k miles, possibly 162k;4 speed manual 4.9.new front & rear fuel tanks.
front locking gas cap; rear non-locking gas cap.
rear tank will not accept any gas,but gauge reads empty for the rear tank even though appears full when fueling. front tank gauge works and reads ok.
Apparently new tanks were installed about 1 yr ago and sending unit or units. Here's my problem:
recently, during hotter weather, front tank will not easily accept gas;spews out frequently at pump as if full;eventually, can fill the tank.unaware if any blockage.during cold weather, accepts gas fine but rear never has.fuel filter replaced 6 months ago;1month ago changed oil filter & oil.used gas tank/line additive in tank regularly during winter;switched to Lucas additive in spring.stopped using it.noticed it takes two cranks to start engine after sitting.wondering if this is a lock e.g. vapor/gas, but where?is there a way to flush out the fuel system & tanks if a blockage?do I have to pull the tanks?Would the pumps have anything to do with not accepting gas?One mechanic said locking caps are a problem. I noticed another inquiry on your site, similar problem, no real answer.
