i have a 1987 f150 pick up its got a 4.9 straight 6 i removed the a/c and smog pump and i cannot get a belt to fit and i have tried ford dealer and still no good can u help oh still has power steering pump

are you sure its the proper belt? try loosening the alternator.

the alternator mounts have no adjustment and the belt is the correct one for my motor with no a/c but i want too remove the smog pump as i removed the system from the motor and the pump is causing drag and overloading the belt and a new pump is not needed as before the smog system is gone oh the tensioner is sprung loaded hope to here from u soon thanks

sounds like your trying to put on a belt that is for the original accessories but you dont have all of them?

have the part store let you try different belts till you find the right fit, chevy, ford dont matter, as long as its the same type of belt.
