1987 Ford F150 Left Turn Signal

If I understand right your left blinker blinks faster then normal? So have you checked the bulbs? Have you check the turn signal flasher? Let me know what you can and we will go from there.

I checked the turn signal flasher. would that be the fuseunder the steering wheel or am I way off? I put 3 different fuses in there (the round attachment with the plug) and that did not solve the problem and the 15 amp fuse in the fuse box is not fried.

Still don't know what the problem is.

Here is a pic of the turn signal flasher. This is on the fuse box your original one may be blue or yellow but still be round and resemble this ok. Let me know what you find ok.

I cleaned off the points and put it back in. I am still having the same problem and the light turns on with one of the two connectors wires inside the turn signal but will not work properly.

I don't think it is the fuse. Should I buy a new one or something else???

So have you checked the flasher? What connectors are you refering to? IF you can include a pic that may help. The flasher is cheap if you want to just replace it.

If I replace the flasher with a brand new one might that solve the problem?

If it is not the flasher, a friend told me the problem might stem from the steering wheel.

Could a loose high beam/low beam switch cause the problem? I just replace that recently.

Ok you decide what you want to do if it were me the flasher is very cheap I would just replace it and if it didn't fix it then I would test the turn switch. Yes the turn switch can cause this problem too but is much more expensive. The turn switch will not cause a lose of low to high beams that would be in either the dimmer switch on the floor or the headlight switch. Now I would unplug the flasher and use a multi meter and see if one of the two term have power going to it if so then just replace the flasher you are only out like 3-4 dollars rather then 60 or the switch. If the flasher don't fix your problem then there is some tests we can do to check the switch for proper operation. Let me what you would like to do. Thanks and get back to me.

what does a turn signal relay look like in a 1987 Ford F-150? My friend checked the flasher bulb and that works just fine so the problem with the left turn signal not working correctly must be somewhere else in the truck. A mechanic I called said it was the Turn Signal Relay that needs replacing. Now, if only I knew what it looked like I could do it myself. Ashley Lenartson

Well there is no relay on this truck as there wan't on the 89 F-150 I had. It is the flasher that I have already included in a previous conversation. So if the relay don't fix the problem then it must be the turn signal switch itself. If you have a digital multi meter we can do some testing to verify that. Let me know what you want to do.
