1984 Ford F150 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 108000 miles

hello i just baught a 84 ford f150 and i noticed that by upper rad hose is under alot of pressure but it never bursts or fails. another thing is my tempture gauge does not work could this be related.coould all this be caused by my thermstat? thanks.

Hi:
It's normal for the hose to get hard when the truck warms up. The system is under pressure. As far as the temp gauge, you most likely need to replace the temp sending unit. It's not an expensive part and it's easy to replace.
