Greetings,
engine overheated and died. I replaced the Intake manifold, distributer armature, intermediate oil pumd shaft, cap, rotor. I get spark at the plugs, but wont start, backfires while cranking? Is my timing wrong? Other overheat problems I have not checked?
Thank you

Hi there,

You best get the engine running first, it sound like you have the distributor out of phase, remove spark plugs and turn engine by hand untill you feel compression at No1 cyl, keep turning untill timing mark on front pulley aligns , now where is rotor facing? Find No 1 on cap and place a paint mark on distributor body for reference. Reset the rotor so points align, making sure that there is ample movement in distributor both ways for final timing, This can be tricky as you have to align the oil pump shaft and the drive gear together, do this first,
