Hello,

I have a question about the integrity of my a/c system possibly being compromised while driving around with a hairline (very tiny) slice in one of my a/c system hoses. It all started when I installed a body lift on my truck and stretched out the a/c hose that runs from the evaporator down below the harmonic balancer or its equivelent on this vehicle. Over time a pulley got closer and closer to this hose and to my dismay eventually sliced through just enough to allow the relase of all the refrigerent. My plan is to replace the hose and recharge the system and everything and should be fine right? Please advise, I appreciate your help. It's god awfull hot with no a/c right now :)

Well, I'd wrap the hose with tape to keep excess crap out until such time as you fix it,, if you break open the system, in theory you're supposed to evacute the system of any contaminants before recharging to ensure long life of the components... perhaps if you're careful when you replace the affected parts, such as plugging open ports and cleaning new pieces, maybe you could get away with a recharge only... hard to say.. maybe another on here has more info
