94 Ford Explorer Ignition Trouble

I own a 1994 Ford Explorer XLT with 213,000 miles. Sometimes (whenever it feels like it), my truck will just lose ignition or just won't start. It either dies while going down the road or when trying to start it, it just turns but doesn't start. From the way it dies going down the road (suddenly, no sputtering), I believe it is not a fuel problem. Battery and alternator are good... I don't lose power, just ignition. Battery, alternator, plugs, wires, ignition control module, and ignition coil pack are new. I've checked the wires running through the system. There are no APPARENT faulty wires. What are your thoughts?

You must determine if your engine will not start because of lack of fuel or lack of spark. If fuel is the problem, check the fuel pump, pressure etc. If no spark, check the coil, 12 volts to the coil, etc.

No spark can also be a crank position sensor failing.

The following parts are new: battery, alternator, plugs, wires, coil pack and ignition control module. I know it is a lack of spark. It is a distributorless system. I'll give the crankshaft position sensor a shot. I just hope it's not the PCM. Thanks for the suggestions.

are you by chance looseing power feed to the coil it self. one is power feed and the other is tack it may be possible that the power feed is getting loose while going down the road. i have been doing this kinda work now for 26 years and you think you see it all but i still to this day get head scratchers i'am working on an F150 right now with some what the same problem and like you i have replaced quit a few know good parts that i have on a wreck just for test purposes and stiil havn't got it yet. have you by chance checked all your grounds fords run off grounds. check the on at the battery also unplug the connector at the battery and make sure there is no corrison there that is ther computer ground.
