Hi, I just got my armored explorer (XLT / 4doors / 4.6L) in Honduras, from out side looks the same, suspension has been changed and need to change for High Performance Brakes, because the weight of the car has increase in 680 Kg (1500 pounds) and is very difficult to stop the car and actual brakes get very hot.

Right now it stops faster a wagon of horses than this armored explorer.

Do yo recomend:
*Gas-port slotted cryogenically treated brake rotors Front & Rear(do you recommend to be drilled too).
*Performance Friction Carbon-Metallic, Carbon-Kevlar, Semi-Metallic Extended Wear, or Ceramic Brake Pads. Witch one gives a faster stop, more durable, low heat.
*Change the Calipers ? / Loaded or Unloaded?

Recommendations/parts/kits/brands??

I have a forward in FL.

Thank you,
Ricardo Gonzales

Hi catracho, Well Lets start with the rotors The bigger the better. but in order to go bigger it will require changing calipers and possibly the wheels (for clearance) depending on the size. drilled and/or slotted will stay alot cooler ther solid vented rotors which are stock on your vehicle. The cooler the brakes remain the better they will work and the longer they will last.
For the calipers loaded ones come with pads and unloaded do not. I would recomend going unloaded because the loaded ones most likely wont have the pads you want.
As for the pads I would recomend the carbon metallic for longer life and the kevlar/ceramic for faster stoping.
As for brands, Willwood and Baer are leaders in performance and aftermarket brake systems. Good Luck!
