fuel pressure regulator location please?

The fuel pressure regulator is located in the tank on the fuel pump. Here is a diagram (below) of what it looks like and a guide to help you test it.

The diagnostic computer reads fuel too lean. The fuel pressure is 70. It should between 28 and 40. Where can I find a diagram that shows me where the fuel pressure regulator is, or can you tell me?

The fuel pressure should be between 60 and 65 so you are okay. The regulator is will the pump as one unit they do not have separated pressure regulators anymore. It is calling a lean codes and low power because you need a new MAF sensor which is a regular maintenance item.

car overheated wont start now turns over sounds funny but smells like gas bad fuel pump working

FPR is on the fuel rail and the FP is in the fuel tank

2004 Explorer XLT 4.0L 6-cyl gasoline; gas mileage way down to about 12-13 mpg, running very rich, had diagnosis performed, was told the "fuel pressure regulator" located at the front of the fuel rail is stuck open or not functioning. Told about $350 for part, but cannot locate equivalent part on any auto parts sites. Is the name correct, or is the device known as something else?

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Use a gage and check fuel pressure. My info says fuel pump regulator is in gas tank, part of the fuel pump assembly.

Trouble code read "high fuel pressure", "running rich bank 1 and 2", don't remember the code. Took the vehicle to mechanic who diagnosed fuel system condition, checked fuel pump pressure (5 psi too low), checked rail pressure (10 psi too high), took vacuum line off the "fuel pressure regulator" at front of rail, pressure is meant to drop by about 10 psi, did not change without vacuum, which lead to diagnosis of faulty fuel pressure regulator. He also recommended replacing fuel pump and fuel filter. Total cost of $900 with labor. No tune-up ever, all original engine equipment including fuel and ignition systems components. I did replace the MAF sensor recently when vehicle began rough-idling and stalling.
My question is what is the component called that bolts on (two torx bolts) to front of the fuel rail, and has a small-diameter vacuum line coming of the top of it? I can't find it in any of the online parts stores, but do remember the mechanic telling me that it is a motorcraft part only. Thanks for your help.

If it looks like the picture, it is a fuel pressure sensor. The picture came from rockauto.com

Thanks, I found it, it is the Fuel Injection Pressure Damper, Ford PN 9F775. Rock Auto has it for $166, Ford for $380.

Hello, where is the Fuel Pressure Regulator on my model explorer? It has the 4.0 L V6 OHV engine. I was told it was on the fuel pump assembly but I have been told other things. Could someone tell me for sure?

why are you replacing it?? not a very common issue at all.

The regulator actually is not working properly. It starts but it is a little rough on cold starts. The cranking amps of the battery is great.

how did you determine the regulator is bad?? what is the pressure key on engine off??

When the engine is off there is no pressure.

that is most likely the pump. there is a check valve in the pump that is common for failure. did you pinch off the lines to confirm??

ok the truck ran fine and then a hour later would not start.replaced the fuel pump,still dont think im getting proper fuel pressure.checked the fuel injecter wire harness for power didnt use a noid light.used a volt meter and when turning the vehicle over showed 12 volts.so sure thats ok.but i am getting some fuel pressure out of the port.but not the 30 to 45 psi .so my question is the injectors haft to have a least 30 psi to operate ,or fuel to pass through the injectors.also where is the fuel pressure regulator located at on this vehicle?????and the truck only turns over.can spray starting fluid in intake and it will fire.

The regulator is on the fuel rail. Check to see how much pressure you are getting and let me know. If you need directions, let me know.

Hello, if anyone was wondering the hard starting is being caused by a bad Fuel Pressure Regulator. However there is some confusion about my model considering Ford changed something in 1998. I can't find the Regulator itself and was told I will have to replace the Fuel Pump itself. Is the Regulator part of the Fuel Pump on this model and in the gas tank or is it on the block. Will I have to replace the Pump just for a bad regulator?

If it isn't on the fuel rail, then it is part of the fuel pump assembly.

I need to know where to locate the fuel pressure regulator on the 5.0 liter engine so I can replace it

located in front of the firewall behind the block. If you follow your air intake after the throttle body the intake moves to the right into the block if you kept going straight you'll see the top of the FPR in between the firewall and the intake. It's set down a few inches and there is an inch thick wiring bundle on top of it.

1993 Ford Explorer 2 WD mileage: 107,000. I have noticed a hissing sound coming from the fuel pressure regulator port located on the fitting where several vacuum hoses connect to the intake manifold. This port has only a cap on it, I replaced the cap but the hissing is still there. I can push on the cap and the hissing is reduced but what can cause this?

Check the vacuum port and hoses behind the port with the cap.
