2004 Ford Explorer loud thumping noise under dash

theres a rather loud thumping noise coming from under the dash.
It just started today and will do it rather the car is started or just the key turned on ?

The only thing I can think of under the dash that would be loud would be a vent door. If you turn the heat off does it still do it?
