my 2003 ford explorer is not shifting into 2nd gear when commanded not throwing any codes. I took it to a tranmission shop and they put it on a machine and said it would need to be taken apart for furhter diagnostics. My transmission was replaces 6 months ago and is under warranty. The warranty company said it should be throwing a code if it is a transmission problem and I would have to pay shipping to send it back to them. What other problems other than witht he transmission would cause this problem? Once I get it to third gear and get on the highway it runs fine? Could it be the computer or something else. I was also told by the mechanic who installed the rebuilt one that my Catalitic comverters my be bad since when he dropped the exhaust he said it shifted fine. I have replaced both catalitic converts and the exhaust still have same issue?

Hi:
If the problem was computer related (electric) then a code would show up. If there is no code, chances are the problem lies in the trans.
