I recently could not get my Explorer out of park. It was parked on an incline. This was the 2nd time in three weeks that this was a problem. Then it was parked on level ground.
No matter how hard I pulled it would not disengage from park. I tried starting, pushing the brake, pulling hard, no luck. I did not knowingly turn the steering wheel. I finally started it, pressed the brake, engaged the 4X4 button(high) and pulled. It came out of park.
Any idea on the problem and solutions if it happens again.
Thanks!

Have the shift interlock control system checked out -could be the shiftlock control solenoid that's malfunctioning
