I recently purchased a 2003 Ford Explorer 4.0L. I knew it had an issue when I purchased it. When it is scanned, two codes are present P0205 Injection Circuit Malfunction-Cylinder 5 and P2197 O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Lean-Bank 2 Sensor 1. When I start it, there is a definite miss and it smokes. Even worse, when it runs for a few minutes, raw fuel actually drips out the exhaust tip. I have replaced the #5 fuel injector as well as the entire engine wire harness as was suggested by a local mechanic. The end result was NO CHANGE. Where do I go next? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No, the O2 sensor hasn't been replaced yet. I cleared the codes after the #5 injector and wire harness were replaced and both codes came back after running if for a few minutes. The smoke & fuel dripping out the exhaust tip is still present also.

Hi
The codes shown and the fact they came back and the 205 without a missfirep03.. requires a check of wiring from PCM toVPWR it gets very complicated.
When you add the p2197 it to leads to the PCM and VPWR.To check this out you need a factory trained Ford tech. If you want to give it a try on this site go to Auto Repair Manuals and you can get Mitchel onDemand.
Good luck
