My fuel pump fuse kept popping and the station put in a new fuel pump. I got one of those at 64,000 miles. Would a fuel pump really need to be replaced again at 92,100 miles? How is the fuse blowing have anything to do with a bad fuel pump? They replaced this fuel pump and I blew a fuse again and then the shop said that the wire was pinched! What would you do now? Do I have something to stand on to get a refund? Do I have them put the old pump in or just cut my losses knowing it was problably a pinched wire from the beginning and they had me spend almost $300 to get something I didn't need.

sorry but your going to have to cut your losses. they could say when they installed it it pinched a wire which they found and fixed and now your vehicle runs.

hard to say who pinched the wire or if they knew this and just wanted to get some money out of you or no.

cut your losses and consider now you have a new fuel pump that should last you the life of the vehicle. spread the word and dont go back to the shop.

Hi, thanks for your response. I called the shop again and he was going to ask the guys if they checked for a pinched wire before doing the replacement. He never called me back. If he would have, I'd ask if they checked the amp draw after the fuel pump to make sure it was truly a fuel pump issue. Well, they gave me $80 some bucks back to shut me up as it was my 3rd call into them on this issue. It's fair enough. I never complain about service stuff like this so I feel terrible but I truly felt they were not right.

glad you got some money back out of it.

more then likely they had not checked the wire first. they checked for pump response and got none so they ruled it bad and replaced it.

you were not in the wrong.
