2001 Ford Explorer oil leak

there is an oil leak coming from the Rear Axle center ball, at the bottom. There is a gasket with about 12 screws the fasten the lid to the main part. does the gasket need to be replaced ?

try a new gasket. be sure to put on rtv sealant on both sides of the gasket and properly torque the bolts.
