I have an 2000 ford expl. v6 sohc 2wd 4.0 motor with 110,000 miles and the check engine light is on. When the mass air flow sensor is plugged in it boggs down and also guns like someone is pressing the gas peddle, even when in park in idles at .5 or at 2 rpms. When the mas is unplugged it barely bogs but it is driveable. Doesnt have much take off but once the speed is gradually increased its fine. Replaced the fuel pump, throttle sensor, mass air flow sensor, iat sensor, checked for vaccume leaks and still nothing. Does the same thing. Someone told me that it might be the air charge temp sensor but im not for sure where it is located on this modle bec it is supposed to be in the mass air flow hose but its not and i also was told that there was two 4.0 motors that the one i have the sensor is supposed to screw in instead of popping in place. Still have no clue where it is located bec it isnt really located that ive found in the manuals at auto zone, etc.

I know this is an old post I am replying to, so I presume the problem is overcome, can I enquire as to what the problem was?

Thanks
