2000 Ford Explorer Front end shaking

I have a shaking in the front end of my Explorer whenever I go over bumps in the road or upon approaching 60 mph. It seems when I hit a bump in the road the truck shakes and kind of drifts to the side? Can I have some help for this problem and any idea of what costs and labor intensive this might be

Sounds like Ball joints, or tie rods ends...only a physical inspection will tell, go for an alignment, they will tell you what's needed when they can't do the alignment.

Is it safe to drive the vehicle this way? I lived 30 miles from a town. I would want this taken care of this week. As far as costs...is it a labor intensive job?

Any 4X$ will cost more to replace ball joints, as for saftey, I cannot determine that from here! It depends on how much play is in the worn part...either jack it up and shake the wheels top to bottom and side to side...if it's real worn, you will feel it...can even be worn shocks, allowing the tires to bounce as you drive...

So when you say 4x's are always costly....what do you mean??? $400.00---$500.00 ???

Do not know! If its just the shocks, 100.00, if it's ball joints, expect the 600.00 niehborhood!
