thanks for the info, but not quite sure what we are looking at when u told us to turn engine over n look for some ring that it may be damaged im aware of it maybe being faulty even though its new but could it possable be that some previous owner maybe pulled the driveshaft out n never timed it?would it cause car to run like i mentioned thanks for your time kim

sounds like you have have recieved a faulty camshaft sensor.

have someone turn the engine by hand and see if you can see the tone ring that the camshaft sensor reads off of, could be damaged.

what was the exact code that showed up?

you may have to take it in and have a relearn procedure done on it.

driveshaft should have nothing to do with that.

im talking about the ring that the sensor reads off of. it is a piece of metal when turning the engine by hand you should be able to examine it with a light from the cam shaft sensor hole.

a bad crank sensr can also cause the cam sensor to missread and throw a code for the cam sensor.

Ok thanks so much for for the reply i had a diagnostic test done yesterday n they took the sensor off and they started the truck and the ring looks great all spun freely for the driveshaft etc...he thinks it is the sensor which i will replace from a ford dealer today instead of a car pasrts place autozone etc..i dont think its going to work but worth a shot.I appreciate your time n effort for guiding me through this issue. thanks kim

check the sensor, again. see if the new one fixes it.

also remember a bad crank shaft sensor can cause the camshaft sensor to be shown faulty as the crankshaft is used as a reference for the camshaft sensor.

whats the code thats being thrown.

ok i will do the sensor tomorrow, then if it aint solved i will try the crankshaft sensor next.thanks so much for your advice at the end of this all i will kindly donate something toward your time.I was also told the sensor in my car calls for a 3 wire plug not a 2 but autozone and the wiring diagram i have calls for a 2 wire plug because its all wheel drive which made a difference in the part #,not sure if this is my problem or not.i will try what u mentioned 1st thanks so much as 4 the code i will look at in tomorrow n let u know it was camshaft sensor code though
